Easy Pumpkin Carving Instructions

1. Buy a pumpkin, big enough so your stencil fits on it nicely.

2. Purchase a pumpkin carving tool set. You can get them pretty cheap at Amazon.

3. Cut a lid on top of your pumpkin. Scoop out the meat and seeds of the pumpkin.

4. Print out your stencil. Cut an inch all the way around your pattern. Secure the pattern to your pumpkin with tape. Use a pin or something sharp to push holes all along the pattern.  You can also use transfer paper for this to speed up the process.

5. Now it’s time to carve the pumpkin. Use the little saw from the kit and use it like a pencil using slow back and forth motions to gently carve the pumpkin. Start with the smaller details and work up to the big ones. You will be able to push out the bigger chunks from the inside of the pumpkin.

6. Keeping your pumpkin hydrated is important so your design doesn’t shrivel. Right after carving rinse with water. You can seal the edges of the pumpkin by putting petroleum jelly on them to seal in the moisture. If your pumpkin starts to shrivel, soak in water for a couple minutes. This should revive it.

7. To light up your pumpkin place a small candle in a glass container inside gently. Use a long utility lighter to light it. Never leave candles burning alone.
